Pakad, Straight and Claw forms.

Pakkad

In India, many pans do not have handles. When they're hot on the stove they are manipulated with a Pakkad. The straight form is for flat items, particularly tava, while the claw form is used for pans with vertical or near vertical sides, like sauté pans. They are sturdy enough to handle considerable weight.
